more sewing books i want...

weekend sewing by heather ross (she makes the fabric i'm using for emilee's quilt)

zakka sewing, zakka means household goods in japanese. a couple other bloggers have mentioned this book and if you read this blog you know i love japanese fabrics. plus, how cute is that squirrel teapot cozy?!?!?

bend the rules sewing, another favorite in the blog-o-sphere. i've looked through it a few times and it has some darling projects.

design*sponge has another gift guide, this time a collection of popular blogger's giving and receiving wish list. it was there that i spotted this beauty. it's so cute, so sleek, so perfect; it has the usb adaptor so you can transfer your albums to you computer and it's portable!

i was also pleased to see that a number of the contributors planned on making their presents this year. speaking of homemade, i finally (for the first time in a few months) pulled out my sewing machine. last night, while i watched grey's anatomy, i sewed together all of the backpacks i've been working on. it's such a feeling of accomplishment to look at finished stitches! i only made one mistake, by the time i was on my 3rd bag, i accidently sewed the open part of the bag shut. whoops! luckily i realized half way through. there are still a few more finishing touches (the drawstring) so i'll post pictures later....

Art, with a capital "a"

per my favorite design blog design*sponge, i discovered this amazing project called 20x200. it's a jen beckman project and every week 2 new pieces by 2 different up and coming artists are posted. the price for the pieces vary by the size; $20 for an 8.5"x11", $200 for a 17"x22", and $2000 for a 30"x40" piece. i've been checking the site regularly and finally came across a piece i really wanted and immediately bought it (for $20 of course). i think this is such a fantastic idea/project and perfect for anyone who wants to start collecting art but cant quite afford the high price tags.

in other news, after only living in LA for about 8 months, i'm moving back down to long beach! i wont go into details and i have a lot of mixed feelings, but i'm definitely looking at the bright sides.
